ANZAC DAWN SERVICE MIDGE POINT
Mark was guest speaker at the Midge Point Anzac Dawn Service. His topic were the War Artists from WWI, WWII and all conflicts since including Alphganistan. He noted that the War Artist was able to capture 'moods and pathos'.
Mark presented two examples of War Artists' works, one from Gallipoli (he preached from the very spot on Anzac Cove in 1999) and one from the Kokoda trail both of which involved the Salvation Army. This involved the 39th being relieved by the AIF (back from the Middle East) with the Sallies providing each exhausted soldier a cuppa - remarkably, so high up the track.
