OVERLAND


The Overland is one of many Australian famous name trains. The Overland runs between Adelaide and Melbourne ( and vice versa) and features in one of Mark's Footplate Padre articles for Christian Today Australia, where he makes several suggestions on how to get patrons back to Rail.

KEN WALDING


Ken Walding is the Art Director of Horizons Gallery (South Tweed Sports Club) who rang Mark last week as their May exhibitor cancelled, and Mark has filled in, a 5 week exhibition. Dave Moyle (On Track magazine) was taught Art by Ken Walding in the early 1950's. Ken also owned his own gallery in Melbourne for some years. Ken Walding liked this painting of Mark's - 'Dusk City Lights'. The art show is a fund raiser for our Country Town Tour missions.

IDEAS


Mark is beside one of his more recent paintings 'Ideas' for the Horizons Gallery art show as a fund raiser for our Country Town Tour missions. Horizons Gallery is in the South Tweed Sports Club.

OPTIONS


'Options' is one of the newer works of art Mark has created for the Horizons Gallery exhibition which is at the South Tweed Sports Club for the month of May. The second painting is titled 'Rain drops on the Window'. This is a fund raiser exhibition for our Country Town Tours.

TONY de KEVITT


Tony de Kevitt from the Tweed Anglican Men's Fellowship is Mark's regular helper when hanging his art for exhibitions. Tony helped out once again last week when hanging the art for the Horizons Gallery exhibition for the month of May. Tony liked this painting depicting the imagery of a coastal rain forest.

STEVE BAZAL


Steve Bazal is both the SIM Mission Qld Director and has been assigned by SIM Australia to create a Sports Friends mission model for the First World from their Third World model (street kids sports linked into local churches). Steve Bazal like us is a faith financed missionary and he visited Mark last week for consultations and checked out the Horizons Gallery with Mark's Art show. Mark interviewed Steve on the Australian Missionary News IPTV.

FOOTBALL


Steve Bazal - SIM Sports Friends Mission - wants this panting of Mark's in his office in SIM Brisbane. Is there someone out there willing to donate this painting $750 to WBA for Steve Bazal to attain this painting (Steve like us is also a faith financed missionary). The $750 to WBA is part of our art fund raising for our Country Town Tour ministries, next one is 3rd week of May.

Mark's seven article series on his 26 years of Cricket Ministry being published in Christian Today Australia includes this historic 1987 photograph of fast bowler Merv Hughes (now a National Selector) and a much younger Mark - 23 years ago.

CRICKET SERIES - TIM MAY


Mark's seven article series on his 26 years of Cricket Ministry being published in Christian Today Australia includes this historic 1998 photograph initiating Life After cricket of Reverend Barrie Sutton (then Victorian cricket chaplain), Tim May (Australian Cricketers Association) and a much younger Mark.

GERRY GOMEZ


Former Socceroo Gerry Gomez who serves as the spiritual advisor to the Sydney Football Club (won the A-League) chats to Mark from time to time. Gerry did a coaching clinic outreach in Sri Lanka some time ago andwas interviewed last year by Mark on the Australian Missionary News IPTV. He's keen to go to the World Cup.

BETTY BONSER - AUSLAN


Delma and Mark joined the 75th birthday celebrations of Betty Bonser the Auslan deaf signing teacher. Betty signed the Book of Ruth in the signing video Bible. Delma visits Fred her husband (seated) in the Nursing Home as a Pastoral Carer.

REVEREND JOHN GILES


Reverend John Giles is retired, and graciously serves as the President of the Northern Rivers Baptist Association (Grafton-Tweed). John recently visited the Tweed where Mark caught up with him. John was the first chaplaincy appointment Mark made to the Cronulla Sharks in 1985. George Capsis followed John.

FLOWERS - UK FRIENDS


When Wesley recently broke his left arm playing soccer, some of his Manchester Mosquito AFL mates and matesses and other friends pooled together and had these flowers delivered. How nice was that!

APRIL - FOOTPLATE PADRE


The April Footplate Padre article is on driving the 'Sunlander' which is QR most famous train. Mark's 1988 book 'From the Drievr's Seat' takes the reader on 14 railway trips as if on the driver's seat. Allan Davis a retired QR driver wrote the Sunlander article. The photograph is Mark as a lad beside the Sunlander 1964.

JEREMY DOVER


Jeremy Dover is one of four new Well-Being Australia 'volunteer' sports writers for the on-line Christian Today Australia daily sports article (with Christian input). Last December CTA asked Mark to write such a daily sports article and he's subsquently put a team together. Jeremy and Ruth (toddler Issac) have been friends of Mark and Delma's for many years, a former marathon and Iron Man Triathlete.

CLAYTON HINDS


Clayton Hinds is another of our new Well-Being Australia 'volunteer' sports writers. Clayton and Anna spent 18 months in Africa in mission service on a specific water project and are now back in Townsville (with a baby). Clayton is one of three of the Russell and Kaye Hinds' boys.

WESLEY


Delma made a special birthday cake for Wesley - his first birthday at home in seven years after his sojourn in the UK. Wesley writes the English Premier League soccer article for Christian Today Australia.

WBA ART MINISTRY OPENING


Tweed Shire Mayor Warren Polglase officially opened the Well-Being Australia 'Art Ministry' fund raiser art show - sales funding to the May Country Town Tour.

HOCKEY ART


When Mark and Delma visited Basil Sellers in January, Basil suggested Mark try his hand at Sport Art and this was one of the outcomes - Hockey Art - (painted during the Hockey World Cup). It is now in the Basil Sellers Private Collection.

DELMA'S CLAN


Each year the three sisters (Debra, Ruth and Delma) spend quality time with widowed mum (Doreen) and of course, a photograph is taken.

TIM WILSON - YWAM


Tim Wilson heads the Brisbane YWAM International College Discipleship Training School - Sports Ministry module and invited Mark and Delma to lecture. Afterwards Mark interviewed Tim for the Australian Missionary News IPTV.

MARK WALKING


Mark exercising - Wesley took this photograph in humour! Mark has a walking program along with two visits to MedX each week, a special exercise program run by Darren Scheuner in Burleigh.

PAUL VAN UUREN


Paul stayed with us three nights during 'The Covenant Players' visit. Turns out that Paul's dad worked with Mark as a locomotive engineman at Port Kembla Depot in the early '70s. Another generation in Christian commitment. Terrific!
