E-BLAST - 7 SEPT 2014

ARPA - Australasian Religious Press Association annual conference 40th anniversary in Canberra was another fine time with very interesting speakers and workshops. Starting on Friday 5 Sept it ran through to Sunday lunch and included a tour if the National Press Gallery at Parliament House. There are three photos below to offer a taste of the conference. Mark enjoys this annual conference.

PRESS GALLERY PANEL - ARPA

Dennis Shanahan (The Australian), Paul Bongiorno (Channel 10), Chris Uhlmann (ABC) and Paul Osborne (AAP) were part of a Panel for the ARPA conference. Their insights were challenging and spoke of the quality required in all Christian media and that social media is very untrustworthy.

LAWYER MARK FOWLER - ARPA

Mark Fowler has addressed an ARPA conference previously on changes in the law. This time his workshop addressed the Andrew Bolt case, Religious Vilification and the charity sector's Australian Charity Not-For-Profit Commission (ACNC). There is some dough whether the ACNC will get through the Senate. Britain's version introduced some time back has now become "the big bad wolf" and that's the long term concern. Photo is Mark with Julie Belding who introduced him to the workshop.

MARK SCOTT ABC CHAIRMAN

Mark Scott ABC Chairman and practicing Christian and board member of Wesley Mission, was the key note speaker at the ARPA awards night. He challenged Christian Press to use every available modern technology platform. Peter Bentley the President of ARPA presented Mark Scott a pen saying that it might be a relic in the not too distant future.

CASEY MURRAY - YOUNG WRITERS CONF

Casey Murray Auckland NZ confirmed last Sunday to the young writer conference. Casey finished 2nd last year for the NZ Awards and has recently changed jobs in her marketing career to a beauty company. Casey did her marketing degree at Sydney Uni and then returned home to Auckland. Casey's articles are beautifully written conveying many remarkable insights - Casey is some eight months older than our Salley.

DAVID AND PRISCILA - YOUNG WRITERS CONF

David and Priscila Luschwitz from Sydney are the latest for the young writers conference next Saturday. Recently married, honeymoon in Italy, David has brought a story telling genre to the PSI young writer program published in Christian Today. (Yes, Priscila has one 'l' - not two).
