E-BLAST - THURS 23 AUG 2018

Christchurch - 8 days to young writers conf and such are these fabulous young people, I wonder how they all might squeeze into this red phone box to do their quick change. This Christchurch phone box was not damaged by the 2012 earthquake, as we were there in 2013 for the Kiwi young writers conf. A favourite awards bit are the "Best Article" certificates for each young writer, followed by the major winners in each category - Aust, NZ, Intern'ls, Sport. Last year's Awards Commission added a sub-group, the Over 31's. It was unfair for 18 years olds to compete with this older group.

E-BLAST - THURS 16 AUG

Russell Modlin will once again entertain the young writers at this year's conference on Sat 1 Sept in Christchurch. Russell has been MC of our annual young writer conferences since 2013 in Melbourne and with the help of Rebecca Moore has numerous side shows thru the day. Russell is a Master at a Sunshine Coast Christian School and previously 4 years mission in Alice Springs - wife Belinda and three sons. He writes as a senior writer, often on matters associated with his children coming of age. His writes mostly (we all listen in) for his sports mates, all his vintage, and his 'dad joke' is all of them wait eagerly for their names to called in the AFL Draft. I first met Russell at North Mackay Christian College in the early 90's on a Country Town Tour. A wonderful asset to the young writer ministry and represents them to Well-Being Australia.

Delma liked it so much I was asked to purchase it for her office in the respite cottage - the 2nd bedroom. As the art finalists are on display at The Point Tavern to the end of Aug, Margaret will collect it and store it til our return in November. Can't wait to put it up!
